MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama man charged after he showed up at a Sunday church service armed with several guns and wearing military fatigues has been deemed unfit to stand trial.
The Press-Register reports a federal judge ordered 29-year-old Robin Lee Hernandez to be treated at a prison medical facility for up to four months. Then the judge will reassess whether Hernandez can understand the charges he faces.
Authorities say Hernandez had two assault rifles, a loaded handgun and a knife when he came to Fairhope Church of Christ during Sunday services last July, a day after delivering a threatening manifesto to the pastor.
Hernandez was charged with being an unlawful drug user in possession of a firearm. Prosecutors say he had been smoking marijuana.
