A Southeast Missouri woman wrapped up a big week by taking home a piece of the record $600 million Powerball jackpot.
RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) –The Sheriff's Department wants to warn the community about a phone scam.
A woman was contacted by a guy who called himself David Wichester
and claimed that he was with Publishing Clearing House. He stated that the
woman had won over 2.5 million dollars. The man requested a $299 Money Order
from the lady so he can go forth and award her prize.
The woman was suspicious of the call and contacted the official
Publishing Clearing House Company. The company said they had not contacted her
and the phone call was a scam.
When looking up the telephone numbers below, it was determined the
calls originated from the country Jamaica.

This is not the first time a phone scam claiming to be Publishing
Clearing House has attempted to trick people in Region 8, Paragould had several
different residents report a similar scam about a month ago.
