Some local drivers have feared that a bridge collapse like the one in Washington State this week could happen closer to home. People have been particularly fearful of the aging Black River Bridge that connects Black Rock and Portia on U.S. 63 in Lawrence County.

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Thousands of scooters are being
recalled due to an acceleration problem that can cause the rider to fall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the
Dynacraft Hello Kitty, and Monster High City motor scooters are being recalled
because the scooters can accelerate suddenly causing the rider to lose control
and fall.
CPSC has received 9 incidents of the scooters accelerating
unintentionally, with 3 suffering minor injuries of a bloody nose and bruises.
Altogether about 10,700 scooters are affected by the recall.
The Hello Kitty scooters were sold exclusively at Toys ‘R
Us, and the Monster High scooters were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart.
Consumers should immediately stop using the scooters and
return them to the store where it was purchased.
