From the Sun Belt Conference
The Sun Belt Conference will signal the beginning of four days of basketball with a party.
On Thursday, March 7 the league will host its "Tournament Tip-Off and Pep Band Spectacular" at Hot Springs' Summit Arena. The event is taking place on the eve of the Sun Belt Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships which is taking place Friday, March 8 through Monday, March 11. The four day basketball tournament will be played in Summit Arena and the Hot Springs Convention Center for the fifth consecutive season.
The Tournament Tip-Off, which is open to the public, will begin at 6 p.m. and offers free admission to all-comers. Additionally, the Sun Belt Conference will provide hot dogs, popcorn and sodas at no charge for all attendees.
Entertainment will be provided by the Sun Belt Conference member institution pep bands and mascots. This year's event will also feature autograph sessions with Sun Belt basketball coaches and student-athletes. Fans will also have a chance to "meet the mascot" by taking pictures with their favorite Sun Belt mascots.
"The Tournament Tip-Off is a great way to have some fun before the competition of the tournament begins," said Sun Belt Conference Senior Associate Commissioner Kathy Keene. "There will be great music and entertainment in a fun, family-friendly environment. We always look forward to having fans of the Sun Belt institutions and Hot Springs residents come out and show their support for the tournament."
