A-State Women’s Basketball Draws No. 5 FIU In SBC Tournament


JONESBORO, Ark. (ASU) — The Sun Belt Conference released the completed bracket Saturday night for the SBC Women's Basketball Championship, which runs March 8-11 at Summit Arena in Hot Springs.

The Red Wolves will enter the field the No. 4 seed from the West Division and will take on Florida International, the No. 5 seed from the East Division Saturday, March 9 at 11:30 a.m. With a win over FIU, A-State would advance to the semifinal game on March 10.

A-State wrapped up the regular season Saturday night with 58-50 loss to Arkansas-Little Rock, the No. 2 seed in the tournament. ASU finished the regular season with a 15-14 overall record and a 12-8 record in league play.

UALR, Middle Tennessee, Florida International and Western Kentucky all earned byes in the quarterfinals of the tournaments. The league will use a two court system for games played on March 8 and 9. A-State's game with FIU will be played on the Convention Center Court, while all semifinal and championship games will be played in Summit Arena.
