From the Sun Belt Conference
The dribblers are coming!
Once again hundreds of dribblers will take over downtown Hot Springs as the Sun Belt Conference hosts its annual "Drive to the Summit" on Saturday March 9. The event coincides with the Sun Belt Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships which are being held Friday, March 8 through Monday, March 11 at Summit Arena and the Hot Springs Convention Center.
The annual event will feature kindergarten through sixth grade children dribbling basketballs through a quarter mile stretch of downtown as the event will be held prior to the quarterfinal games of the 2013 Sun Belt Men's and Women's Basketball Championship.
The Dribble Drive to the Summit will begin at Hill Wheatly Plaza with registration opening at 9:30 a.m. and the festivities starting at 10:30 a.m. At the start of the event, kids will be asked to participate in basic basketball drills before dribbling their new basketballs down the street to the Hot Springs Convention center.
Registered participants will receive a free Sun Belt Conference prize pack consisting of a t-shirt, basketball, and complimentary tickets to the first session games. Each participating child will receive a ticket for one accompanying parent.
In addition to the dribblers receiving free admission to the first session of games on Saturday, the Sun Belt Conference will be offering $1 youth tickets throughout the entirety of the tournament.
