Poplar Bluff--"We can fly out to the home or facility, or wherever the accident is at,"said Jimmy Wilson.
Jimmy Wilson is the Regional Membership Manager.
Air Evac Lifeteam provides emergency air lift services to those in desperate need of medical attention.
"Air Evac has a membership program. A person doesn't have to be a part of the service to use it. It's just if you are a member you are supporting us, and helping us get into these communities,"said Wilson.
Each flight cost between six and ten thousand dollars.
Wilson says most insurance companies are only paying eighteen to thirty five hundred dollars of the bill......the patient is responsible for the rest.
"That's why we encourage folks to become members with us.....for just a small rate, you don't have to worry about any bills,"said Wilson.
The helicopter is comparable to a regular emergency room.
The crew on board consists of a nurse, and an EMT Paramedic both with three years of critical care experience.
The Air Evac Life team holds a special place in the heart of the Hammond family.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart,"said Hammond.
Melanie Hammond's daughter was less than a year old when she was taken by air evac to St. Louis after she began to seizure and stop breathing.
"There's nothing you can do to repay someone for saving your child's life....absolutely,"said Hammond.
Vickie Byerley is Air Evac Lifeteam nurse.
"Let's put it this way.....all of us think of everyone when we fly, we treat them as if they were our own family, our own children that were in there,"said Byerley.
Byerley says she can't imagine doing anything else.
