From Arkansas State University
The Arkansas State women's bowling team claimed a second place finish at
the Greater Ozarks Invitational on Sunday and completed the three-day
tournament with a combined 8-4 record.The Red Wolves posted a 2-1 record
today, defeating
both Vanderbilt and Stephen F. Austin before falling to Nebraska in
their final match. A-State knocked off the Commodores 4-2 and the
Ladyjacks 4-3 before falling 4-0 to the Cornhuskers.
"We were down 2-0 to Vanderbilt and came back to win 4-2, so I was
pleased with our resolve," said ASU head coach Justin Kostick.
"Although we got stuck on the tough lane for game seven against Stephen
F. Austin because they were the higher seed, I was excited
that we were able to bowl a 258 to get the win. Despite losing to
Nebraska, I thought we bowled fantastic and every game came down to the
10th frame. I give credit to Nebraska as they made great shots in the
match, but it could have easily been 4-0 in our
favor."
ASU, which finished with a total pinfall of 10,784, also picked up
victories over Louisiana Tech, Valparaiso, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Sam
Houston State, Elmhurst and UAB over the course of the weekend.
The Red Wolves return to action March 15-17 at the Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn.
