Corning's Kyle Harvey named AMC Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Year

Walnut Ridge, Ark. ( – Williams Baptist College senior forward Kyle Harvey has been named American Midwest Conference Co-Player of the Year.  The announcement came following the AMC Championship game on Tuesday evening.

Harvey led the conference and finished 12th nationally in scoring at 19.8 points per game.  He also contributed on the boards, finished second in the conference at 8.29 rebounds per game.  He shot 46 percent from the field on the year, including 38 percent from 3-point range and 77 percent from the free throw line.

"The boy deserves it.  His humility and his Christ-like attitude is the reason he is successful.  I will miss him more as a person than a player in years to come.  He is always the first to volunteer to help pick up or clean up around the gym.  I've never met a teammate or person who did not like Kyle Harvey as a person.  Everyone likes to be around him," said Head Coach Josh Austin.

Harvey is the second Eagles player to be named AMC Player of the Year, with Jeremy Bell having received the honor in 2005.   Harvey was also awarded as a first team All-Conference selection.

Harvey is from Corning, Ark., and he is the son of Leon and Virginia Harvey.
