Walnut Ridge, Ark. (WBCSports.com) – The American Midwest Conference released its annual women's basketball awards Monday, following the conclusion of the AMC championship game. Two Lady Eagles from Williams Baptist College were honored. Cheyenne Childers was selected as First-Team All-Conference and Michaela Thompson was voted Co-Freshman of the Year in the AMC.
Childers finished the season with averaging 11.94 points, 6.47 rebounds, 1.75 steals, and 1.47 assists per game. The junior from Cave City, Ark., led the team in points, rebounds, and steals. Childers shot 47 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line. She scored a season high 25 points against Park University on Feb. 9.
Thompson is a freshman from Viola, Ark., and received the honor of Co-Freshman of the Year with Julia Wells of William Woods University. Thompson averaged 7.09 points per contest while collected an even five rebounds per game. The 6'2'' center also averaged 1.09 blocks a game. Her biggest game came against Lubbock Christian University, when she scored 23 points and collected seven rebounds against the number one team in the NAIA.
The Lady Eagles finished the season with a 17-15 record and fourth place in the AMC.
