FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas will try to snap a 7-year drought at this weekend's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The host Razorbacks have won an NCAA-best 19 indoor national championships but none since 2006 under former coach John McDonnell.
Chris Bucknam took over as the coach after McDonnell retired in 2008, and he's led Arkansas to 4 of the last five Southeastern Conference indoor championships. The Razorbacks finished second nationally last season to 3-time defending champion Florida, but they enter this year as the top-ranked team ahead of the No. 2 Gators and No. 3 Texas A&M.
Arkansas' men lead this weekend's field with 19 entries. LSU is No. 1 in the women's rankings, followed by Kansas and Arkansas.
The event begins Friday afternoon and concludes Saturday night.
