JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- The U.S. economy has had a boom in the job market adding 236,000 jobs in February, bringing the unemployment rate down to its lowest level since 2008.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report Friday, U.S. employers added 236,000 jobs in February, which is up from 119,000 in January. This was considered the best payroll growth since last November.
Suzette Wewers is the branch manager at Productive Staffing in Jonesboro and said their business has been booming. In February alone, they helped about a hundred people get hired.
"Usually in December and January we definitely see a decline," said Wewers. "But now that it's picked up, we [only] go through that one month."
Wewers helps candidates like Amanda Spencer find a job that fits their skill set. Wewers hired Spencer on Monday as the agency's new receptionist. Spencer said she is happy she got the job.
"I just felt like I wanted to be back in the office and just help people find a job,"she said.
Wewers said in the Jonesboro area, most candidates are looking for jobs in the industrial field, but they have been getting a lot of requests for clerical work.
Spencer said she is just trying to get in the swing of things at her new job.
"I love working at productive staffing, everybody is great and we are all a team,"she said. "It feels like a family."
The unemployment rate dropped to 7.7 percent from 7.9 percent in January.
