Western Kentucky, Florida International meet for SBC title

HOT SPRINGS, AR (KAIT) - The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Florida International Golden Panthers probably weren't favored by many to win a Sun Belt Conference Championship when the men's basketball tournament began, but one of them will be when Monday night is over.

Florida International ended a 17 game win-streak by Middle Tennessee and knocked out the 1 seeded Blue Raiders to earn their date with WKU. Middle Tennessee was the heavy favorite and the regular season Sun Belt Champion.

Western Kentucky knocked off 2 seed Arkansas State on Sunday night to earn the right to play Monday night. The Hilltoppers beat the West Division champ Red Wolves 58-56 in a dog fight.

The winner of the game will earn the automatic bid for the Sun Belt Conference to the NCAA Tournament that begins next week.

The Championship game for the Sun Belt will played Monday night at 6:00 p.m. and will air on ESPN.
