SANTA FE, NM (AP) - New Mexico's Supreme Court today hears the appeal of a Christian photographer who was found to have violated state anti-discrimination laws for refusing to take pictures of a lesbian couple's commitment ceremony.

One of the women, Vanessa Willock, filed a complaint with the state's human rights commission. It sided with her and ordered Elaine Photography to pay Willock $6,600 in lawyer fees.

The photographer filed suit. Citing New Mexico's Religious Freedom Restoration Act and federal law, she claimed the commission infringed upon her Christian faith. Two state courts so far have ruled against her.
