MARION, AR (KAIT) – A Marion High School student has been charged after police say they found an unloaded gun.
According to Marion Assistant Police Chief Gerald Martin, the school received a tip on March 8 that a student may have been carrying a weapon on campus. On that Friday morning, officers say they did find an unloaded handgun in the student's backpack. There was no ammunition found.
The student is being charged for possession of a handgun by a minor on school property. The student was taken to Crittenden County Juvenile Detention Center. He is being charged as an adult in this case.
The adult charge and name of the student has not yet been released.
