LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - House Speaker Davy Carter says he'd love to see the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Arkansas State Red Wolves meet up on the football field. He just doesn't think the Legislature should mandate it.
Carter told reporters Wednesday he doesn't support legislation that would require the two schools to meet up for one football game at Little Rock's War Memorial Stadium.
The proposal would require that at least $250,000 in ticket sales from the game go to charity.
Carter said he'd be the first to buy a ticket for an Arkansas-Arkansas State game, but said it should be up to the schools and not the Legislature on whether to meet up.
The sponsors of the bill have set up a website to poll the public on whether the teams should play.
