BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A 5-year-old Blytheville boy at the center of a non-custodial abduction has been found safe in Kansas. The mother is in custody.
Captain Scott Adams states Evan and Corbet Darby are in Wichita, Kansas. Evan is safe and Corbet is in custody. Corbet will soon be extradited back to Blytheville, police say.
Evan's father, Harry Darby, is en route to Kansas to reunite with his son.
According to police, Harry Darby went to pick up his five-year-old son Evan from his ex-wife's residence located at 840 East Main, on Monday.
When he arrived, he made contact with his ex-wife Corbet Darby who advised him to come back in an hour. After a few minutes, Darby exited the apartment with the child in her hands and got into her 1996 white Volvo and locked the doors.
Mr. Darby then called police as he watched Mrs. Darby leave the parking lot before officers could arrive. Corbet has a history of mental instability, according to police.
