Lincoln Wants Congress Reconvened to Consider 9-11 Commission Recommendations

LITTLE ROCK, AR - U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln says Congress should reconvene to consider recommendations from the 9-11 commission.

The Democratic senator has asked Arkansas supporters to sign a petition calling for Congress to go back into session this month.  Lawmakers are set to return to Capitol Hill after Labor Day.

Lincoln said that, without extra time, it's unlikely that Congress will pass any kind of meaningful legislation before next year.

Lincoln spokesman Drew Goesl said the senator is willing to forego campaigning to take time for Congress to debate the commission's findings.  Lincoln faces state senator Jim Holt, a Republican from Springdale, in November.
