LITTLE ROCK, AR - Although the summer of 2004 has been unusually cool in Arkansas, it is not among the state's ten coolest summers on record.

According to the National Weather Service at Little Rock, the average temperature at Little Rock National Airport from June 1 to August 11 of this year was 78.6, compared to a normal average temperature of 80.6 degrees.  During the same stretch in 1903, the average temperature was 76.5.  The coldest summer month on record is June of 1903, when the average temperature was only 72.

K8 Storm Team meteorologist Spencer Denton forecasts an expected high of 74 today in Region 8, while the overnight low is expected to reach a brisk 53 degrees.
