JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Warmer weather seems likesit's just around the corner, but before you head out to a lake there's a classyou need to know about.
The Arkansas Game and Fish held a boating safetycourse at the Crowley's Ridge Nature Center in Jonesboro.
Chuck Long is the Regional Education Coordinatorand he says there are a number of things you need to be aware of when you hitthe water.
"Wearing a life jacket willdefinitely save your life, save your kids life. That's the most important thing. Number two; just pay attention when you're out there. Realize what's going on around you."
He advises to never take a lake forgranted no matter how familiar you are with it, always be prepared.
According to Long, if you were born in1986 or later, you must takea boating safety education course for any type of boat.
