Suspect named in Caruthersville stabbing

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) – Police have named the suspect in the stabbing of a Caruthersville man.

According to Caruthersville police, officers were called the 100 block of East 14th Street to investigate a stabbing on March 22. Officers say when they arrived they found Teddy Carter bleeding from his left arm.

Officers say as they were about to help Carter, two women came out of the home. Police asked the women if they saw the person who stabbed the man. One of the women told police "I'm the one that stabbed him", according to the news release.

Police arrested 39-year-old Vanita Carter. She faces charges of assault and armed criminal action. Carter is currently out on bond.

Teddy Carter was taken to a Pemiscot County hospital to receive treatment. His injuries were not life-threatening.
