KENNETT, MO (KAIT) –A dog had to be put down after an officer shot it while responding to a call ofan attempted attack.
According to theKennett Police Department, officers responded to the report of a vicious dog atthe 300 block of Emerson Street on March 22. A resident told police there was abrown and white pit bull terrier in his yard who had tried to attack him.
Officersinvestigated the area and found the dog at the back of the home. When theyfound the dog police say it charged at officers and the resident.
According to thenews release, an officer shot the dog because he was "in fear of his safety andothers".
The pit bull ran away andofficers found the wounded animal on the morning of March 23.
The dog was takento a veterinarian where it was euthanized due to its injuries.
