Hendrix and Woodard sweep AMC weekly softball honors

St. Louis, Mo. (WBCEagles.com) -  A pair of seniors for the Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles have earned American Midwest Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors after a 2-0 week last week.

Karisa Hendrix, a pitcher from Cherokee Village, Ark., threw a perfect game against AMC foe Harris-Stowe State University last week, winning the contest 9-0 in five innings. She added nine strikeouts in the game where she faced 15 batters and extended her streak of not allowing a run to 40.1 innings.

Currently Hendrix ranks No. 3 in the NAIA in opposing batting average this season and in hits allowed.  She also has an ERA of 0.54 and has logged 93 strikeouts in 78.1 innings.

Centerfielder Felicia Woodard was just as perfect for the Eagles this week, going six-for-six from the plate in two victories last week, helping Williams Baptist improve their record to 21-1 on the season with a No. 7 ranking.  The 5-6 Corning, Ark. native scored five runs, smacked a triple and added two RBIs and a stolen base in the wins.

The Eagles are scheduled to continue AMC play this week with a doubleheader against Stephens College on March 26th.  First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m., at the Lady Eagle softball field in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
