ASU men's golf stands 13th at Memphis Intercollegiate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ( – The Arkansas State men's golf team shot a first-round 320 Monday at the Memphis Intercollegiate, completing the 54-hole tournament's opening day of competition in 13th place among 16 teams.

The Red Wolves are just two strokes behind 11th-place Southern Mississippi and Louisiana-Lafayette.  South Alabama and Austin Peay State are tied for first place with a 303, while Memphis and Louisville both shot a 304 to stand tied for third.

A-State was led by Chance Holden, who recorded a 79 to end the day tied for 40th place.  Also competing for ASU, Easton Key and Christian Helmbold are tied for 48th place after shooting an 80.  Seth Garner is tied for 60th place with an 81 and Alex Hewitt is in 89th with a 92.

The tournament's second round, suspended due to darkness, will resume Tuesday morning and be followed by the third and final round.
