JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Construction on the NEA Baptist Clinic and Hospital is coming right along on Highway 49 North in Jonesboro and with it, bringing a lot of business to the area.

"We just felt like with the way Jonesboro is changing that this was the perfect way to capitalize," Managing Partner of Fat City Steak & Grillhouse, Tom Fielder told Region 8 News.

Fielder explained being able to get a brand new building in a booming area of town will be beneficial to their future.

"Where we are now on South Caraway Road, has been a fantastic location for us," Fielder said. "For our future growth, we felt like the way this area is beginning to thrive, and will continue to thrive for an unknown number of years, it could be 10 years, it could be 20 years, it's just phenomenal what the new hospital has brought to this area."

Owner and Principal Broker of Thrasher Realty, Roddy Thrasher said this is a common theme with businesses right now.

"We've got a lot of restaurants right now and retail that are looking at this area, they look for traffic, they look for demographics, they look for rooftops in the area," Thrasher explained.

Thrasher said along with commercial realty, the hospital will likely shift residential realty to the North side of town as well.

"So that's gonna add to the need for more rooftops, more subdivisions and we've got a couple of hotels we're talking to right now about coming out this way," Thrasher said.

Fielder told Region 8 News with the shift the hospital is bringing, he feels it was a good investment moving his restaurant.

"There's no doubt that with the number of for sale signs that have turned into sold signs that this area will be a very strong area," Fielder said.
