Southeast Missouri State baseball swept UT Martin in a three-game series, winning its third contest 7-2 on Saturday at Capaha Field. It was their first sweep in the Ohio Valley Conference since 2011 when they played Eastern Illinois.
Southeast improved to an overall record of 15-14 and 7-5 in OVC play. UT Martin fell to 8-19 and 1-11.
Luke Shearrow earned the victory, allowing four hits and four strikeouts in 3.1 innings.
Jason Blum, Cole Bieser, Derek Gibson and Matt Tellor all had two hits in the game. Andy Lennington also added a single, extending his hitting streak to 11.
The score was 2-2 until Clayton Evans hit a homerun over the left field scoreboard, giving the Redhawks the lead in the seventh inning.
Southeast also added four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, winning the game 7-2.
UT Martin's Dalton Potts suffered the loss, pitching six innings, allowing three runs on six hits.
Skyhawk's Matt Haynes led the team going 3-for-4 in the contest.
Southeast next game will be against Arkansas State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Jonesboro, Ark.
