LITTLE ROCK, AR - Twenty-year-old Princella Smith of Wynne has won an essay contest sponsored by MTV and is to speak at the Republican National Convention in New York.

Smith will address a crowd of 50,000 politicians, delegates, reporters and visitors.

Both the Republican and Democratic national conventions teamed up with MTV's Choose or Lose campaign for an essay contest called "Stand Up and Holla!"  Smith was ultimately chosen from nearly 1,000 Republican entries.

A junior majoring in history and political science at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Smith appeared on MTV's "Total Request Live" on Monday to accept the award.

Smith says the issues she is most concerned about are foreign relations and education.
