JONESBORO, Ark. (AStateRedWolves.com) – The Arkansas State University men's and women's track and field teams will have a longer wait than expected for their next meet as a forecast for cold weather has forced the cancellation of this week's (April 4-5) AState Combined Events Meet at the ASU Track and Field Complex in Jonesboro, Ark.
"We are cancelling the meet due to the forecast for this Thursday," said ASU head coach Jim Patchell. "Those teams who were coming have cancelled because of the weather. Wet conditions aren't that big a deal, but when you combine that with the cold then it's not a good idea to compete."
Arkansas State, which had to contend with the elements at this past weekend's (March 29-30) UCA (Central Arkansas) Open in Conway, Ark., are scheduled to compete in Southeast Missouri State's Joey Haines Invitational this weekend, April 5-6, at the Abe Stuber Track and Field Complex in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The meets starts this Friday (April 5) with the hammer throw event at 3:30 p.m. (CT) followed by the remainder of the field events and the running events this Saturday (April 6), starting at 11 a.m. (CT).
