JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A former Corning police officer is behind bars after he and his wife allegedly went on a shopping spree with stolen credit cards. That was, however, after they reportedly stole a truck.
Not only were multiple law enforcement agencies involved in the arrest of husband and wife, Shane "Adam" Neill and Brandy Neill, but their alleged crimes crossed county and even state lines.
Police report the Neill's alleged crime spree started in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, where police say they stole a truck from the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
The two even went to Walgreens at the intersection of Highland and Southwest Drive in order to fill a prescription for Vicoden that didn't belong to them.
The two were then arrested by Jonesboro Police across the street from Walgreens at McDonald's.
"Subsequent to the arrest, a large number of items were located in the vehicle that were purchased with what we believe to be stolen credit cards from several jurisdictions," Sgt. Waterworth told Region 8 News.
The conference room at the Jonesboro Police Department was full of items the couple allegedly bought with stolen credit and debit cards. Items that ranged from an iPad to a cell phone to a 47" flat screen TV.
Waterworth explained there was so much stuff recovered from the truck, JPD is still trying to compile a list of everything the Neill's purchased.
"It's all being inventoried and being prepared to go into evidence or back to the rightful owner." Sgt. Waterworth said.
Sgt. Waterworth said the Clay County Sheriff's Department helped lead JPD to the pair by 'pinging' their cell phones.
"Charges are being filed with Craighead County for the theft by receiving, possession of a stolen vehicle and I believe other misdemeanor charges," Waterworth said.
The theft by receiving and possession of a stolen vehicle charges are both felonies.
