Man shot by officer behind bars on multiple warrants

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The man who was shot by a Craighead County Sheriff's Deputy is behind bars on multiple warrants.

Steven Honeycutt, who was shot by Deputy Brandon Womack during a traffic stop on March 23, was placed into custody on Friday afternoon.

Honeycutt was wanted for three misdemeanor warrants regarding that traffic stop. Craighead County Sheriff, Marty Boyd tells Region 8 News those warrants were for Driving on a Suspended License, Fictitious Tags and Fleeing, all misdemeanors.

Honeycutt was also wanted for one felony charge. Sheriff Boyd said that charge was for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

No bond was set for Honeycutt on Friday.

Following the shooting incident in March, the Craighead County Sheriff's Department conducted an internal investigation into Deputy Womack. Sheriff Boyd said as of Friday, Womack has been cleared to return to work.
