Police find $10,000 in heroin during I-40 traffic stop

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Metro police officer making a routine traffic stop Tuesday along Interstate 40 discovered about $10,000 worth of heroin in the vehicle.

Anthony Gurley, 51, of Boston, is charged with felony drug possession after he was stopped in west Nashville for following too closely.

Gurley gave the officer permission to search his rented Ford Taurus, and the officer found 125 packets of heroin concealed inside the trunk.

Each packet would sell for an estimated $60 to $80, police said.

Investigators said Gurley claimed not to know anything about the presence of the drugs in the car.

Gurley was released on $7,500 bond.
