SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

Sikeston police say three people entered the American Legion building Wednesday evening and robbed the people inside.

Nearly 100 people were participating in a bingo game at the American Legion Hall at 333 S. Kingshighway around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday when three masked gunmen came into the building.

The three gunmen were said to be armed with handguns and demanded the bingo money. Bingo organizers handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the three men ran out of the building.

The SEMO Major Case Squad was activated because of the large number of witnesses and the nature of the crime.

Police canvassed the area and conducted several interviews attempting to gather more leads.

Investigators are continuing to speak with witnesses and are asking for help. Anyone with any information on this crime is asked to contact Sikeston DPS at 573-471-4711. Or you can call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 573-471-1500. Tips can always be emailed at publicsafety@sikeston.org.

Anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of these suspects can be eligible for a cash reward.

Holly Brantley talked to witnesses of the robbery. She'll have more tonight on Heartland News at 6.
