BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Missouri man is in jail after a chase with the Baxter County Sheriff's office.

According to Sheriff John Montgomery, 42 year-old Vernard Deatherage ran from Corporal Edward Elliott on April 7th.

According to a press release, Deatherage's vehicle was pulled over on the side of road with the hood up. Corporal Elliott asked for Deatherage's identification, but the man couldn't produce any.

As Corporal Elliott was proceeding to process the name he had been given, Deatherage reportedly closed the hood on the vehicle and drove off.

The chase started east on Baxter CR 15, then north on State Highway 5 toward the Missouri state line.

During the chase, police say Deatherage was driving recklessly and putting other vehicles and drivers in danger.

Missouri law enforcement picked up the chase once the man crossed the state line.

The Sheriff's Office was notified several hours later that the Deatherage had been arrested in Ozark County, Missouri on multiple charges.

The Baxter County Sheriff's office obtained a bench warrant for the offense of Felony Fleeing. He has a $10,000 bond.

He's in the custody of Missouri law enforcement.
