Radio broadcast set for A-State's spring football game

From Arkansas State University

The Arkansas State Athletics Department has announced that the Red Wolves' 2013 spring football game, set for 1 p.m. this Saturday at Liberty Bank Stadium, will feature a live radio broadcast on East Arkansas Broadcasters' (EAB) 95.3 FM The Ticket and KNEA-970 AM.  Both stations are part of the EAB Sports/Red Wolves Radio Network.

The broadcast will begin at with a 12:30 p.m.pregame show, and the radio program will also be streamed live in its entirety in the "State Zone" portion of Arkansas State's official Web site (astateredwolves.com).

The voice of the Red Wolves, Matt Stolz, will handle play-by-play duties for the game, while Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame inductee Bill Keedy will serve as an analyst.  Also working as part of Saturday's broadcast team as a sideline reporter is 95.3 FM The Ticket sports-talk personality Mickey Ryan.

Additionally, former A-State quarterback Corey Leonard will join Stolz, Keedy and Arkansas State Director of Broadcast, Licensing and New Media Brad Bobo in the radio booth for part of the broadcast.  Leonard lettered at Arkansas State from 2006-09, was a three-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection and ended his career as the Red Wolves' all-time leader in total offense.

The spring game will give A-State fans one of their first looks at the defending Sun Belt Conference champion Red Wolves in a "game day" atmosphere under new head coach Bryan Harsin.  The Red Wolves began their spring camp March 11, and the spring game will count as their 14th practice as they continue to prepare for the 2013 season.

There is no admission charge for the spring game, but fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items that will be collected at all open entrances (gates 2, 6, 7, 8 - all located on the west side of the stadium).  Although there is no charge to attend the spring football game, tickets for the event have already been distributed and additional tickets will be available at the entry gates that will grant admission at no charge to the Red Wolves' home baseball game the same day at 4 p.m. against Sun Belt Conference opponent South Alabama.

The spring game, featuring four ten-minute quarters and a 15-minute halftime, will utilize a traditional game format and scoring system.

In addition to the on-field action, the ASU band will be in attendance as an electric atmosphere is expected.  Several promotions will be held as well, including an autograph session on the Liberty Bank Stadium field with the players and coaches following the game.  Fans are also encouraged to tailgate prior to and after the game, and Tailgate City will be open with inflatables and activities planned for kids.

Barbeque, concessions, Arkansas State merchandise and 2013 football tickets will all be available for purchase as well.  Free 2013 A-State football posters and schedule cards will also be available, and the ASU Bookstore will be issuing a limited-edition Red Wolves' t-shirts with the purchase of a 12-pack Coca-Cola product.

Season tickets for A-State's 2013 campaign remain on sale at the ASU Ticket Office, and may be purchased for as low as $65 through April 19.  For more information or questions regarding special ticket promotions, please contact the ASU Ticket Office at 870-972-2781.
