Region 8 Artists showcase work at competition, winner makes it to the US Capitol

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Artists throughout Region 8 were able to present their talents in front of professionals Sunday.

The Congressional Art Competition was held in Jonesboro and whoever won first would get their art showcased at the US Capitol.

Congressman Rick Crawford held the event today at the Joey Glaub Photography Studio and he feels everyone should consider participating in it.

"It's just a lot of fun, it's a good experience for the kids and we sure do appreciate it", says Crawford.

Meagan Johnson is a 9th grader and was really happy when she placed first in the contest.

She agrees with the Congressman and says, "It's a great opportunity and I would do it if you are interested in arts so it's really fun".

If you were not able to attend the event there is always next year.

"What I hope is that folks will remember that this is an annual deal, we want as much as we can get and it really is the more the merrier", Crawford says.

You didn't have to place in the contest to receive recognition. Everyone who participated in the contest, were recognized at the event.
