3 injured in SE Missouri police chase

PAINTON, MO (AP) - Three people are hurt after the vehicle they were in overturned during a police chase in southeast Missouri.

The Southeast Missourian reports that a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull over a Chevrolet Cavalier for a registration violation Sunday afternoon and the driver fled. A short time later police laid spike strips across Highway O near Painton, Mo. After the Cavalier crossed the spike strips it ran off the road, struck a culvert and overturned.

The 39-year-old driver and 16- and 18-year-old passengers were all hurt. Patrol trooper Clark Parrott says charges are still pending because the investigation continues.
