Osceola City Council approves $2M in funding for proposed steel mill

OSCEOLA, AR (KAIT) – The proposed steel mill in Osceola is getting more funding.

The Osceola City Council authorized Mayor Dickie Kennemore to commit $2 million in funding for the Big River Steel project Monday night at the council meeting.

Earlier this week, House lawmakers passed a Senate-approved budget bill to fund the $1.1 billion steel mill project in Osceola.

The project is expected to bring at least 525 permanent jobs and more than 200 temporary construction jobs.
