JONESBORO (stbmdexpo.com) - The National Football League has taken an interest in children's health, and three NFL players who were ASU standouts will be on hand at the sixth annual St. Bernards Medical Group Health & Fitness Expo this weekend to talk to kids about health and fitness – as well as to sign autographs, says St. Bernards Medical Group President Joseph Sams, M.D.
Bryan Hall of the Superbowl Champion Baltimore Ravens will sign autographs and hand out child ID kits Friday, April 19, through Sunday, April 21. M.D. Jennings of the Green Bay Packers and Brandon Joiner of the Cincinnati Bengals will join Hall in the Kids' Zone at the Expo all day Saturday and Sunday.
The Kids' Zone also will feature a number of athletes and coaches from Arkansas State University and Jonesboro High School.
"We think this is something the public is going to really enjoy," said Sams. "It is an opportunity for fans to meet standout athletes from the NFL as well as everyone's favorite local sports celebrities."
ASU head football defensive coordinator John Thompson and his wife Charlene will join the Expo Sunday afternoon in the Healthy Cooking Kitchen followed by time to meet and greet attendees as well as sign autographs.
The St. Bernards Medical Group Expo added the NFL Play60 program to its Kids' Zone activities in part to encourage the public — young and old — to get healthier through exercise, eating right and participating in fun activities.
"Hall, Jennings and Joiner are very gracious to spend the day at the Expo, and we are extremely fortunate to have them here," noted Sams. "But, they all see what a great event the Expo is, and I think they want to do their part to contribute to its success.
"St. Bernards Medical Group's goal is to make Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas a healthier place to live," stressed Sams. "That's what's so great about the Expo. It's a fun way for families to a weekend having fun together and getting healthy — and, as always, it's free!"
The sixth annual St. Bernards Medical Group Health & Fitness Expo is open to the public April 19-21 at the ASU Convocation Center. Attendance is free! Hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
