Jonesboro Man Plans Counter-Demonstration to PETA Protest Tuesday

AUGUST 20, 2004 - Posted at 4:23 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO, AR - A Jonesboro man who is not exactly a fan of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) plans a counter-demonstration to Tuesday's scheduled PETA protest of the treatment of animals by the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey circus company.

PETA activist Brandi Valladolid plans to be "crouched in a cage, wearing nothing but shackles" Tuesday at noon on the lawn of the Craighead County Courthouse.  Valladolid claims Ringling Brothers mistreats its circus animals.  Circus performances by Ringling Brothers are set for August 27-29 at the ASU Convocation Center.

Michael Davidson says he'll offer a counter-demonstration across the street, where he plans to give away hamburgers and barbeque.  Davidson so despises PETA that he runs his own website, www.peta-sucks.com.  The 25-year-old Arkansas State University student says he'll be happy to take on the help of any volunteers who have similar opinions of PETA.  "I could really use some help with this thing," said Davidson.  "People who want to help can call me at 926-5098, or e-mail me at admin@peta-sucks.com
