Students walk for the Agape House

BAY, AR (KAIT) – Students at Bay Elementary left the classroom on Friday to walk for a cause.

The Bay Stand Out of the Dark Club held a walk-a-thon this morning in support of the Agape House, which works to help women with addiction problems kick the habit and get back on their feet.

School Counselor Phyllis Curtis says the students really learned a lot while raising money for the Agape House. "We've had people from the Agape House come and talk about what they do there to help women who get on drugs and alcohol and that they are there to help and I think the kids have learned from others experiences and are eager to help those." Curtis said.

Agape House Executive Director Sunny Curtis says without the public's help, they couldn't help all the women they do. "It takes a lot of funds to run the Agape House, especially to keep four homes going with all the different things that go with that.  Our communities, Craighead County and Greene County have always been very supportive of us." Curtis said.

Around 40 students participated in the walk and raise over $1,000 for the Agape House.

You have a chance to help the Agape House. You can "Golf For Agape" Saturday at the Sage Meadows Country Club.
