BAY, AR (KAIT) – Students at Bay Elementary left theclassroom on Friday to walk for a cause.
The Bay Stand Out of the Dark Club held a walk-a-thon thismorning in support of the Agape House, which works to help women with addictionproblems kick the habit and get back on their feet.
School Counselor Phyllis Curtis says the students reallylearned a lot while raising money for the Agape House. "We've hadpeople from the Agape House come and talk about what they do there to helpwomen who get on drugs and alcohol and that they are there to help and I thinkthe kids have learned from others experiences and are eager to help those."Curtis said.
Agape House Executive Director Sunny Curtis says without thepublic's help, they couldn't help all the women they do. "It takes a lot of funds to run the Agape House, especially to keepfour homes going with all the different things that go with that. Our communities, Craighead County and GreeneCounty have always been very supportive of us." Curtis said.
Around 40 students participated in the walkand raise over $1,000 for the Agape House.
