Special Olympics at ASU

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Arkansas State University's track was filled with athletes competing for their chance to head to Special Olympics state competition.

Special Olympics Arkansas provides year round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Jonesboro Police Officer Brian Arnold has worked with the organization for four years and says it's all about the athletes getting together and doing their best and having a great time.  "They try just as hard, if not harder, than anyone who does sports.  They're always there and they're always happy.  It doesn't matter if they win, loose, come in first or fifth.  They're happy."

The event lasted all day Friday on the ASU campus.
