Special Olympics at ASU

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Arkansas State University's track wasfilled with athletes competing for their chance to head to Special Olympicsstate competition.

Special Olympics Arkansas provides year round sportstraining and competition for children and adults with intellectualdisabilities.

Jonesboro Police Officer Brian Arnold has worked with the organizationfor four years and says it's all about the athletes getting together and doingtheir best and having a great time.  "They try just as hard, if not harder, than anyone who doessports.  They're always there and they'realways happy.  It doesn't matter if theywin, loose, come in first or fifth. They're happy."

The event lasted all day Friday on the ASUcampus.
