United Way Reaching Out To Help Fund Non-Profit Programs

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The United Way of Northeast Arkansas is now accepting applications for their Community Impact Program.

"United way decided a few years ago that instead of funding agencies we were going to move towards funding programs," said Volunteer Selena Barber.

Barber said their goal is to find programs to better the community as a whole.

"We try to make more of an impact in the community by funding specific programs that reach one of our goals of promoting education, income and health," said Barber.

The grant is for mostly all non-profits in their eight county regions, helping out agencies throughout all of North East Arkansas.

"It's for general non-profit status organization so it just can't be a four profit company that we fund," said Barber

If chosen, United Way works closely with the program making sure each goal of the program is met.

"About every six months we go out and visit our funded programs, just to see how they are doing and make sure they are able to accomplish the goals they set out when we funded them," said Barber.

The deadline for the application is May 21st. To apply, visit www.uwnea.org.
