BRADENTON, FL (TheStarPhoenix.com) - B.J. Daniels and Ryan Aplin have been on the Saskatchewan Roughriders' radar for the last couple of years.
Whether the quarterbacks touch down in Regina remains to be determined, because they both have their sights set on the NFL. If that doesn't happen, they are willing to consider the CFL.
"Any time there is a chance for me to continue playing football, I want to give it my best,'' Aplin, a graduate of Arkansas State, said after a rain-shortened workout at the IMG Academy. "I want to keep my options open. If things don't work out in the NFL, I'll be ready for this.''
Daniels and Aplin are both on the Riders' negotiation list, which gives the team exclusive rights to the quarterbacks if they play in the CFL. Craig Smith, the Riders' director of player personnel, feels they have the potential to be CFL quarterbacks.
