SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Gibson - Tennessee
2B • Sr. • Pasadena, Md.
Gibson enjoyed one of the most dominant performances by a Lady Vol hitter in school history, finishing the week batting .818 (9-for-11) with five HRs, 18 RBIs, nine runs, three doubles and three walks. For the week, Gibson had an OPS of 3.255 (2.455 slugging percentage and .800 on-base percentage).The senior went 4-for-5 with three HRs, a two-run double and nine RBIs on Saturday vs. Ole Miss and tied a Tennessee RBI single-game record set by Kat Dotson on March 15, 2011.
SEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Chelsea Thomas - Missouri
Sr. • Pleasantville, Iowa
Thomas notched her SEC-leading 10th conference pitching victory in Mizzou's 3-2 win (April 21) at No. 11 LSU, capping a weekend in which she struck out 23 batters in 14.0 innings pitched for a rate of 1.64 strikeouts per inning. She issued just one walk in the two complete game wins. Her pitching performance in the Tigers' 6-1 win over LSU on April 19 included 13 strikeouts, zero walks and two hits. She gave up just seven total hits for the week and helped Missouri to its first conference road series win since March 15-17.
SEC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Kaylee Puailoa - Georgia
OF/1B • Buena Park, Calif.
Puailoa batted .455 (5-for-11) over four games last week, including a three-game sweep of No. 13 Texas A&M. She had a hit in every contest last and had the game-tying home run Saturday vs. the Aggies. Puailoa tied for the team lead and led all UG freshmen with a slugging percentage of .818, registered an OPS of 1.356 and recorded nine total bases to tie for the team lead. She hit her 10th double of the season against USC Upstate on Wednesday.
