Possible copper theft leads to drug arrest

CALICO ROCK, AR (KAIT)- An investigation into a possible copper theft lands a woman behind bars on drug charges.

Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence says Jolynn Mandel, 28, of Calico Rock was arrested after police found meth and marijuana in her car.

Deputies were called out by the Game and Fish Commission after officers found copper wire out in plain view. Mandel then admitted to having marijuana and methamphetamine in the car.

Mandel was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mandel is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility on a $20,000 bond relating to the drug charges.

Police are still investigating to see whether that wire was stolen.
