LITTLE ROCK, AR - Today is the deadline for Nolan Richardson to decide whether he will file an appeal of a judge's dismissal of his discrimination lawsuit against the University of Arkansas.
U.S. District Judge Bill Wilson dismissed the former Arkansas basketball coach's lawsuit in July. Richardson claimed the university had engaged in racial discrimination and violated his free-speech rights when it fired him March 1, 2002. The former coach had sought almost $9 million in the lawsuit.
University officials said they fired Richardson because he made public comments that showed a lack of faith in the basketball program and damaged the program.
