WBC Eagles Baseball sweeps in season finale

From Williams Baptist College

The Williams Baptist College baseball team earned wins 15 and 16 as it swept Victory University in its final doubleheader of the season. The games were played at Shell Field in Walnut Ridge, Ark. The score was 7-2 in game one and 7-5 in the second contest.

Williams feel behind 2-0 in game one before scoring all seven runs in the bottom of the sixth. Tyler Williams scorched two doubles off the left field wall on his way to a 3-for-4 game with a run scored and one run batted in. He leads the team in RBI's with 32. The Eagles as a team compiled 15 hits, with each starter collecting at least one.

WBC pitchers Nathan Thomas, Taylor Wilson and Paul Keen combined to throw seven innings, allowing one earned run and giving up six hits. Taylor Wilson earned the win in relief.

The Eagles once again came from behind to win in game two. Victory opened up a 5-1 lead before WBC scored six unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pull ahead 7-5. Cogan Ford hit his third home run of the season in a 3-for-3 day at the plate. He drove in three of Williams' runs in the contest.

Fittingly, senior Ethan Clark earned the win by throwing two innings in relief and fellow senior Tyler Williams earned his first career save.

It was the final game in the college careers of Williams, Clark and Chris Richardson.

The sweep provided a positive end to the season for the Eagles, who finish with an overall record of 16-38 and an American Midwest Conference record of 6-22.
