Funeral Services Set for Gilmore Kidnapping Victim

GILMORE, AR - A funeral is to be held Saturday for Patricia Ann Miles, a 7-year-old girl who was the center of a massive search last week.

Patricia was found dead last Thursday in a Mississippi County farm field.

She is to be remembered at the Beautiful Zion Baptist Church in West Memphis.  Arrangements are being made with the Anthony/West Memphis Funeral Home.

A family friend, Jo Ann Buchanan, has been charged by Crittenden County authorities with kidnapping in the case.  She is being held on $1 million bond.  Officials say investigators are working to determine in which county Patricial was killed so charges in the death can be lodged in the proper county.

Mississippi County Sheriff Leroy Meadows told a K8 News crew this morning that his office is investigating the possibility of a link between the Miles death and that of 81-year-old Elsie Johnson, a murder victim whose body was found on August 14, the day before Patricia Miles disappeared.  Johnson's body was found in a field near Denwood, approximately one mile from the location where Miles' body was found Thursday evening.   The sites where both bodies were found are each located on the same tract of land owned by Lamar Oakes of Mississippi County.

Patricia Miles vanished on August 15 after riding her bicycle to a grocery store in Gilmore.
